AaRON is the kind of band that just cannot be categorized, even after listening to their album multiple times. Classic songwriting meets electronic gimmicks, kept together by the impressively unique voice of Simon Buret, which expresses melancholic charm no one can resist. The two French musicians prove in a convincing manner that alternative dark pop-music doesn’t always have to be of British origin.
Their current album „Artificial Animals Riding On Neverland“ has sold more than 250.000 copies in France which is why they are nowmentioned in the same breath as Daft Punk or AIR. Its exquisite tracklist comprising of deeply melancholic songs and styles ranging from electro-blues to nouvelle chanson to eclectic singer-songwriterism provides the perfect soundtrack for gloomy winter days and received rave reviews by the press.
The single “U Turn (Lili)” also became a success, selling more than 30.000 times in France alone, and downloaded more than 300.000 times at myspace making it a modern pop-classic in the tradition of U2, Coldplay and Depeche Mode. Writing the theme song for the successful French movie “je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas” (“Don’t worry, I’m fine”) helped AaRON gain even more national reputation. In addition, their singer Simon Buret, also actor and model, appeared in a supporting role.
In January/February 2008 the duo presented their highly praised album together with a third musician on stage during a 5-day-tour through Germany, e.g. at Admiralspalast Berlin. Despite their newcomer status back then, large audiences came to witness them and were just as enthralled as promoters and media.
2009 was almost exclusively dedicated to the recording of their new album (Release Date Spring 2010) with only a few selected live appearences such as Jazz-Open Stuttgart). 2010 will bring them back on tour throughout Europe with new, versatile sounds in their suitcases!
