Artist information

Who is this great singer from Denmark, who connects Pop and Jazz with such great ease?

With a voice that recalls the heydays of the great Shirley Bassey, Caroline Henderson is the perfect embodiment of contemporary vocal jazz with a sophisticated pop appeal, that thanks to a trail at relaxed nonchalance always sounds elaxed and natural, casual and confident. This lady just does not need great drama, because she has an undeniable talent that was handed down to her by her father, a jazz drummer. Nevertheless she began her artistic ascent in the pop field. Until in 2003 after three albums, numerous hits (including "Kiss Me Kiss Me" or "Made in Europe") and a total of seven Danish Music Awards, she followed her heart and returned to her jazz roots with the album "Do not explain".

A decision she would never regret.

Since then she has released six more studio albums and gave over 400 concerts worldwide. Since 2011 Caroline convinced the German/Austrian and Swiss audience and press in such renowned venues as Altes Pfandhaus Köln, Jazzhaus Freiburg, Treibhaus Innsbruck, Posthof Linz, Moods Zurich, domicil Dortmund, BIX Stuttgart with her unbeatable charisma and an extraordinary stage presence. Aditionally the MDR broadcasted an MDR Figaro Special from the Theater Gera (together with the MDR Symphony Orchestra) that reached an audience of 60,000 viewers!

For her 2013 release called "Lonely House", a reinterpretation of Kurt Weill's work, Sony Classical has once again provided the exceptional Scandinavian singer great support. Her concerts are still not only interesting for jazz fans but bring together sophisticated music fans of different genres. She is always accompanied by an excellent live jazz band whose artistic tasteful playing at a high level support the wonderfully soulful voice completely.
