“They are the outstanding and confident voice of the youth & hip generation from Senegal” - BBC UK

Artist information

Since their beginnings in the 90s in Dakar, Faada Freddy and N' Dongo have always created a bridge between Africa and the rest of the world.Their lyrics in Wolof, French and English always carried the hope of a better world and their music mixes the tradition of the Senegalese Griots with funk, rock-psyche, and American hip-hop. Using Kora, tracks and vibraphone, their instrumental hip-hop reveals their social concerns: the education, the ecology, the child welfare. Daara J makes a commitment for a true African identity and for the future generations.

Several years ago, they won the BBC's prestigious World Music Award, opened for Wyclef Jean and Mos Def in the US, toured with Peter Gabriel, and headlined at the WOMAD Festival. Faada Freddy has had several successful tours in Germany, including the legendary "Summerjam" and the "Stimmen" festival.

After a few years on his own, and between two solo albums, Faada Freddy is back on N'Dongo's side presenting their new album which will be released in 2018 followed by a tour!
