Artist information

With her first record “No Man’s Land” the Dutch singer and musician Qeaux Qeaux Joans has already convinced the German music media. “Strong debut album”, the Rolling Stone wrote. Everywhere she shows up, her “incredibly catchy voice” (Berliner Morgenpost) leaves an absolutely thrilled audience. With her second album she goes one step further by reinventing herself.

While on “No Man’s Land” alternative rhythm and blues sounds dominate, “The Ritual” is a modern and complex piece of pop music based on a comprehensive crossover approach. Surging strings, elegiac and minimalist piano parts, choral movements, seething drums and electronic beats create a compelling pull. This album is cinematic, dark and dramatic.

It’s her expressive, charismatic appearance, her captivatingly wistful voice and her ability to transfer her feelings into breathing, tunes and sounds what makes her special. Qeaux Qeaux Joans lives the beauty and power of music. One moment her convertible vocal tone is fragile and vulnerable, the next it shines above all. The new songs were written in a five-month phase of withdrawal and make “The Ritual” an ode to the everlasting battle of emotions and to the coming to terms with inner conflicts. With intensity Qeaux Qeaux Joans creates stirring soundscapes from elements of pop, neoclassical music and electronica.
