„With his soulful love song, he united Europe in a way that politicians can only dream about“ - Neue Zürcher Zeitung
Artist information
With his sad, heartfelt ballad and his enraptured, eccentric but deeply endearing performance at the ESC 2017, Salvador Sobral not only created his own musical style, but also touched the whole of Europe with his expressive voice. His eagerly awaited album "TIMBRE" was released in autumn 2023 and includes songs like "al llegar" featuring well known uruguayan songwriter Jorge Drexler, again with release by Warner Music.
His music takes us on a unique and varied journey from jazz classics and jazz-oriented original compositions to pop and rock and the melodic sound of Brazilian bossa nova. As a born performer, Salvador Sobral places great emphasis on improvisation and dialogue between his musicians, captivating the audience with jazzy, multifaceted but often also surprisingly poppy songs, which Salvador performs by singing, rapping, humming, sometimes whispering and even growling. A true entertainer Salvador Sobral also picks a song from the country he plays in and performs it in the respective language, leaving the audience at the end of the concert dancing in front of the stage. Coupled with his fine sense of poetry and humour, each concert becomes a unique experience.
As soon after Salvador Sobral recieved his long needed heart transplantion in early 2018 he rushed out to play all over Europe and winnning over the European audience by storm performing at renownend venues like Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Alexela Concert Hall Tallinn, Zurich Kaufleuten, Oslo Konserthus, Rockhal Luxembourg, Savoy Theatre Finland and Barbican Centre London.
